DTS* surround sound uses a 5.1 channel audio just like Dolby* Digital 5.1

The major difference is the way DTS* is encoded, it employs different compresions ratio's and also methord of reproducton from the original version to the home version

and also uses fiber optic or coaxal connections to transport the audio from the sorce to the decoder and then the speakers
