Stereo sound is now classed as the normal home sound format

as most if not all home TV's and Stereo's have this feature as a standard option

It consists of a left and right channel audio system were sound coming from the left is replicated from the left speaker and the same applies to the right channel

The only drawback to this audio format in a home theater system is that the sound from center of the two speaker is directed to both the left and right speaker equally so not giving a true representation of were the sound is actually with in the visual field
